Conferences RDD Europe 2009, Lisbon, Portugal; 19th to 22n May 2009 Micron Technologies, the leading provider of Particle Size reduction for Pharmaceutical Ingredients will be participating at the conference RDD Europe 2009 in Lisbon, Portugal from the 19th to the 22nd May 2009; this year, the conference organizer VALOIS, recognizing our unique expertise in our field has asked us to hold a workshop which will cover "Optimizing the micronization process and the particle size analytical method for inhaled products". Due to the very specific particle size distribution required for powders used in inhalation, not only the micronization process, or the choice of the right technology but also the analytical technique has to be carefully selected and developed; this could be particularly challenging for some powders exhibiting particular behaviors during the micronization process, or during the analytical testing; the high potency of some these drugs adds difficulty as processing under full containment would be necessary; the workshop will examine those challenges and will talk through some of the solutions available for the formulators. Micronization has proven over the last decades that it is the quickest, most reliable, reproducible and cost effective technique to bring an inhaled product to the market.
